Paul Stofberg has been with Prophet SA for 12 years. He grew up on an export citrus and grape farm and after finishing school, completed a Microsoft Development Course.
Paul started his career as an intern at Cirrlus Development Systems and his passion for the fruit industry was given a vehicle in a project he headed up to design and develop a software product to handle fruit processing in a packing shed. The company soon realised there was a gap in the market for user-friendly and functional software in the South African fruit industry.
In 2003, Paul and Paul Bailey started 5Degrees Technology (Pty) Ltd to assist established and emerging farmers in the technology field. As technical director he was responsible for designing and developing new products. In the latter part of 2003, leading exporter Safpro appointed 5Degrees to design and develop a complete fruit exporting system. Paul headed a team of developers and created the QXprophet system. After completion of the initial version of QXprophet, 5Degrees started to market the system more widely in the South African fruit export industry.
In 2005-2006 Prophet UK was looking for a suitable partner in South Africa. After a successful purchase of the majority shares in 5Degrees by Prophet UK, Paul was appointed managing director of the newly formed Prophet SA.
