IFPA's Event Recap: Sharing some impactful insights from the #WFPC2024 event

Caroline Valentine & Shannon Fauconnier attended the International Fresh Produce Association’s Womens Fresh Perspective Event held in Orlando, FL last week.

Dr. Berry emphasized the significance of purpose, highlighting that when one actively seeks their purpose, the universe aligns to reveal it. She emphasized that our purpose transcends mere occupation; it's our calling, with the potential to profoundly impact others' lives.

Henna Pryor delved into the importance of achieving harmony in our lives, drawing parallels to the constant adjustments made by tightrope walkers to maintain balance. She urged attendees to confront their "mind monsters" by critically evaluating their thoughts, prompting introspective questions like "Is that true? Said by who?"

Tamara Muruetagoiena, VP of Sustainability at International Fresh Produce Association, shed light on the nexus between personal well-being and sustainable practices, underscoring the pivotal role of fruits and vegetables in fostering sustainability. Tamara's collaboration with Nikki Cossio, renowned for pioneering sustainability initiatives, reinforces their shared commitment to the threefold ethos of sustainability: People, Planet, Profit. In workplace sustainability, they advocate for investments in training and fostering longevity to mitigate staff turnover.

The next session was on Advocating for Yourself and Your Industry which was about getting comfortable speaking up – for yourself and for the Fresh Produce Industry. Whether you’re making that “elevator pitch” to a new client or in a meeting on Capitol Hill, speaking with confidence about you, your company, and your goals for our industry is a skill that needs continuous development. It's not about perfecting public speaking; it's about embracing and confidently communicating as yourself, in your own voice and style.

The last session Caroline and Shannon partook in was led by Tara Renze, where she encouraged the ladies to embrace the mantra "Be who you came to be!" Tara is a leading figure in inspiring both individuals and organizations to unlock the power of emotional intelligence, fostering clarity and confidence while guiding purposeful actions toward a fulfilling life.

Shannon and Caroline said that they gained valuable life lessons applicable not only to their careers but also to their daily lives. This event prompted introspection, raising questions about their lifestyles, their contributions to the planet, their aspirations, and the paths they choose to pursue.

They are eagerly anticipating next year's event, looking forward to reconnecting with their new friends and forging new connections.
