Leon Pretorius was born and bred in Klerksdorp, North West. After matriculating, he studied Comprehensive Programming specialising in C# application development. He later furthered his studies in CS5 Dreamweaver, CS5 Photoshop, Java Script, MySQL, PHP, Java Programming SE/EE and then in MCSE BI (SQL Server 2012).
He started his career in the private market at various IT companies in technical & sales positions before investing as Managing Partner in IT Zone where he grew and developed the company for the next three years.
He then moved into the Mining Industry and worked for Anglo Gold Ashanti’s Asset Protection unit in a technical capacity before being promoted to Senior Technical Specialist at the Rock Engineering Research department, where he moved back into application development where he converted Python Applications into standalone Java applications to rework Geographical 3D design data into grapical presentations for the next two years.
He then relocated to the Northern Cape to further his career as MES Specialist at BHP Billiton (now known as South32) focusing on Mining Execustion System integrations and implementations. One year later he inhereted additional duties as Service Delivery Specialist assisting as Contract Manager for operational hardware vendors. His role then progressed into an operation position as Specialist IT Applications managing application vendors and software related projects and integrations. From there he moved into a regional position as Specialist IT Applications for the Africa Region’s Mining Cluster before joining Prophet SA as an Account Manager.
